Music production has come a long way over the years, transitioning from analog to digital. The shift has dramatically changed how we produce, record, and even consume music.
I thought it would be interesting to discuss our experiences with the evolution of music production, both the challenges and the triumphs.
I purchased my 64 Ultra sampler, an analog mixer desk, and an outboard compressor just before the digital revolution really took off. As exciting as those pieces of gear were at the time, it’s incredible to see how quickly technology advanced and changed how I created music.
Looking back, it’s incredible how far we’ve come and how much more accessible music production has become.
I’m curious to hear about your experiences and thoughts on the evolution of music production. How has the transition from analog to digital impacted your workflow or your approach to music? What are some fond memories you have of working with older equipment, and what advantages do you see in today’s digital age?
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and explore the progression of music production.
